I can only assume this is because you've got a PowerTools config that's applied on startup of that game. You might want to remove that config and report the bug to the Baldurs Gate devs.
Not to be contrarian, but I've checked again. There is no specific config applied by PowerTools, I left everything at the default setting. I do believe that PowerTools itself is the problem, though I can't guess as to how.
It's a shame, but if you are unwilling to fix the issue I guess I'll just leave it uninstalled until I'm done with BG3 then.
Nor can I, which is why I added the wontfix label. There was a similar situation a while ago with another game, and it turned out to be the anti-cheat freaking out. It also ended up not being specific to PowerTools, which is why I'm hesitant to promise anything.
Logs from PowerTools and BG3 might show something.
Please feel free, that would be the quickest way to solve the crash for you
I'm 200% sure this has absolutely nothing to do with powertools.
Check your proton version.
I'm running PT 1.40 beta 3 in Main OS in Baldur's Gate 3 with no problem. Only thing I've very rarely seen is that sometimes the "main menu" doesn't appear after you press "A" on the grassy scene before it-it just sits on the grassy scene (no freezes) but nothing happens. Very rare. But no crashes, which is definitely a linux game bug.
I have the launcher disabled and am using Proton Experimental.
If you have the gamescope overlay enabled, try disabling that too. I've seen some issues occasionally with the overlay and games starting up (like Elden Ring) where the overlay crashes the GPU on startup (black screen+GPU pause and crash) unless you bring up one of the two steam menus then close it, which immediately makes the game resume (if you do it before the crash happens).
