Expected Behaviour

Version 2.0.0 should be installable via the DeckyLoader store.

Actual Behaviour

Version 2.0.0 does not appear in the DeckyLoader store or as an update. Neither when checking for updates or when trying to install it fresh.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Go to DeckyLoader store
  2. Search for PowerTools
  3. Check version available

Anything else?

Is there any other way to install the newest version? Anything I miss? I am relatively new to the Steam Deck scene.

Version

2.0.0

Platform

SteamDeck

OS

SteamOS 3 (Stable)

Okay, I am still relatively new to my SteamDeck and DeckyLoader, so I would like to understand the update procedures of these plugins then. This version was marked as "Stable", so why do I need to switch to another channel for it then? Is that normal for most DeckyLoader plugins? How was I supposed to know that I can find this version only in the "testing" channel?

I see from the linked thread that this process is not in the hands of the plugin developers? So any new version has to be approved by DeckyLoader developers themselves before being admitted to the stable channel. Do I understand that right?

Stable releases on this site indicate that I think they are stable. Decky's store has different requirements and procedures to get onto their store.

Yes, that is correct. Plugins also need to be tested before being allowed onto the default/stable store. Ideally the testing is done by community members since the Decky devs only have so much time to volunteer.

PowerTools v2.0.0 (now v2.0.1) submission is here: https://github.com/SteamDeckHomebrew/decky-plugin-database/pull/591

@NGnius That's a very helpful explanation, thanks. It makes sense now. I was just not aware of that process. I will keep an eye on that other PR and same for other plugins. 🙏
