What is this place?

This is a self-hosted instance of Forgejo mostly for NGnius's git projects. Think GitHub but not run by big tech.

Why not stay on GitHub?

Philosophically: centralization of web services is bad for the web as a whole.

Ethically: GitHub has been using public (and maybe private?) code for machine learning (Copilot) on their website without respecting the licenses in those projects.

Logically: why stay on GitHub when I can host my own similar website?

Also Microsoft is a really horrible company.

Why can't I create a repository?

To prevent people from using excessive resources on his server, NGnius has disabled that functionality. If you do need to create a repository (e.g. for a PR), please contact NGnius or create an issue on this project.

What is this running on?

A Raspberry Pi 4B with 8GB RAM, running Raspbian Lite (CLI only) with 64GB of storage. This is hosted at NGnius's home in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
